Oxford, England -- Strathdon Investments Plc, a U.K.-based
technology investment firm, announced that it has invested £100,000 in
Oxsensis Ltd., a spin out from the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in
Oxfordshire, in return for a 5% equity interest in the company. Total
funding in Oxsensis came to approximately £890,000. Strathdon and
Seven Spires Investments led the round, with Rainbow Seed Fund and
a number of private investors also participating. Oxsensis, which will
use the funds to speed up the development of its extreme environment
sensors, is working on instrumentation for gas turbines in the aviation
and power sectors that is designed to achieve major reductions in
greenhouse gas emissions. "The G8 leaders in their recent summit
underlined the importance of acting with resolve and urgency to
accelerate the deployment of clean technology," said Strathdon CEO
Hugh Stewart. "It's an exciting time to be investing in a company like
Oxsensis, which is so well aligned to these goals."
