London -- Cable & Wireless (C&W), the
second-largest phone
company in the U.K., announced that CEO Francesco Caio will
resign after fewer than three years at the helm. C&W said Caio
would leave at the end of the financial year in March. The company
also announced that it plans to split its businesses in two (U.K. and
International) and issued a profit warning for the coming year. In
London, shares in C&W fell by as much as 15% -- a 15-month low
-- in late afternoon trading.
