London -- Dialog Semiconductor Plc, a
Germany-based
semiconductor firm, announced that it has spun-out its imaging
division, Dialog Imaging Systems (DIS). DIS makes camera
modules for mobile phones. Dialog said a group of private-equity
firms led by U.K.-based 3i Group and including Doughty Hanson
Technology Ventures, GIMV and L-EA/SEED plans to
invest about
£15.2 million (€22.2 million) in the start-up. Under the terms of the
investment, Dialog will retain a 13.7% stake in the firm. Dialog is
headquartered near Stuttgart and has design facilities in Austria,
Japan, the U.K. and the U.S.
